Terms of service

Last updated: September 18, 2026

1explain is operated by Opero Labs ApS, Denmark. These terms cover your use of 1explain.com and the guides you create and share. Contact hi@1explain.com with questions about the service or these terms.

Using 1explain

1explain helps you turn text, recordings, and documents into instructions. You can edit a guide and share it with a link. You must have authority to accept these terms for yourself or the organisation you represent. Keep your account secure and contact us if you suspect someone has used it without permission.

Your content and shared guides

You keep ownership of the content you upload. You give us permission to store, process, and display it as needed to provide the service, including sending selected content to our processing providers when you request generated instructions. Only upload material you have the right to use and share.

Anyone with an active public guide link may be able to view it and pass the link on. Review your content before sharing and avoid including confidential information or personal information you are not authorised to disclose. Disabling a link stops future access through that link but cannot remove copies someone has already made. Our privacy policy explains how we handle your information.

Check generated instructions

Generated instructions can miss steps or contain errors. Check the result against your source material before others rely on it. You are responsible for making sure your guides are suitable for the task, the people using them, and any safety requirements. A generated guide does not replace professional advice, required training, or equipment instructions.

Free guides and processing credits

Writing instructions manually is free. Automatic processing uses credits: one credit per started minute of video or audio, or per PDF page. For example, a 61 second recording uses two credits. A new processing run uses credits even if you have processed the same source before.

Credits are reserved when processing starts. Successful processing uses those credits; a failed processing attempt returns them. Editing or sharing an existing guide does not use processing credits. Trial credits, allowances, and prices are shown on the pricing page and at checkout.

Monthly and yearly allowances expire at the end of their billing period and do not roll over. A yearly allowance is provided upfront for that year. Credits bought as a one time pack have no scheduled expiry and do not renew. A reference to lifetime credits means no scheduled credit expiry, not unlimited processing or a promise that the service will operate forever. Credits are for using 1explain, are not transferable, and are not money or a cash balance.

Prices and payments

The checkout shows the amount, currency, applicable tax, and billing period before you pay. Our base prices are in USD; checkout may offer payment in your local currency. Check the final total before confirming your purchase.

Where checkout identifies your purchase as sold through Link, Stripe Managed Payments acts as the merchant of record and handles the payment, applicable sales tax, and transaction support. The payment terms shown at checkout also apply. We remain responsible for providing 1explain and product support.

Renewals and cancellation

Monthly and yearly subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled. You can cancel future renewals through Manage billing on the pricing page or through the order management options provided with your receipt. Contact us if you cannot access those options.

Cancellation takes effect at the end of the paid billing period. Your remaining subscription credits stay available until their normal expiry. Cancelling a subscription does not delete your saved guides or expire a separate one time credit pack. Cancellation alone does not issue a refund. A failed renewal does not grant a new credit allowance; payment may be retried according to the payment provider’s recovery process.

Refund requests

If you were charged incorrectly, did not receive purchased credits, or could not use what you bought because of a service problem, contact hi@1explain.com with your account email and receipt reference. Do not send card details. We review refund requests based on the purchase, usage, and the issue reported.

For purchases sold through Link, you can also request help from Link support. Its refund policy applies to those transactions and may allow a refund independently of our review. A full refund removes the unused credits from the refunded purchase. Partial refunds and related credit adjustments are handled through support.

Nothing in these terms limits a refund, withdrawal, cancellation, or other consumer right that applies under law. Using the service does not by itself waive those rights.

Acceptable use

Do not use 1explain for unlawful content, infringe someone else’s rights, try to access another person’s account, disrupt the service, or abuse trial credits or payment systems. We may restrict access where needed to address misuse, security risks, or legal requirements. Contact us if you believe a restriction was made in error.

Service changes and ending use

We work to keep the service available, but interruptions and errors can occur. Keep copies of important source material. You can stop using 1explain at any time and request account deletion by email. Cancel an active subscription before requesting deletion so future renewals stop.

We may update features, prices, or these terms. Material changes affecting an existing paid subscription will be communicated before they apply. Changes do not remove rights that already apply to a purchase. If we discontinue paid processing, we will explain how to request a refund for unused purchased credits. Nothing here excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law.
